Welcome aboard. This is a sweet site to learn everything about building up your explorer for cheap, and the right way the first time. I'm not gonna get into the whole, what is your use, what do you want it to do.
Here is what you need to know. Lift is cool, big tires is cool, unfortunatly, you are gonna need gears in our big trucks if you go too big so that is something to consider. Your rig will probably have 3.27 or 3.73 gears, (search this on this site) if you have 3.73s you will be safe to run 32's(I did no prob) and possibly 33s depending on your driving needs. I would say on a 91-94 go susp only(I did a body lift first...kinda wished I didn't) cause if ya go 4-6 inches it is a great height, but if you ever want to go real big there is great ways to do solid front axles now that several people are getting done. I actually have done a lot of my stuff very cheaply. As well as have some stuff for sale to lift the front of your truck's TTB and could be economically lifted in the rear with a spring over axle conversion that I have also done. Search my name and you'll see several of the things I have for sale as well as IMO a good write up on a soa

or

I have a 91 4dr auto. and I put on the skyjacker 6" for a ranger and it works good! I put a 1/4" spacer under the front springs and that raised the front bumper 2". it sits level now. I suggest going with the skyjacker lift, pro-comp steel braided brake lines, spring over in the back, and at least 32x11.5 tires. I put 32x11.5s on my stock rims. It looks good and it was cheap my whole lift, brake lines, and tires shipped to me costed me $1,075. I am sticking with stock gears. I had to build custom shock mounts for the back. You'll probably want to extend your anti-swaybars. good luck, feel free to email me if you have any questions www.fragglewok@hotmail.com

Gearing

Big B -

What gears are you running?? If you bump up to 33's and you have 3.27 gears you'll probably have to regear to 4.10s or 4.56s.

If you have 3.73s you could probably get by, but anything less you'll really notice a decrease in performance.

Just something to consider.
