There is no designation of whether it is a Limited, XL, XLT, and im sure its not an Edcie Bauer. Any ideas of what t-case is in it? Its my girlfriends moms vehicle and she is going to give it to my girl. The transfer case is making the whirring noise that I have been reading about on here. Sounds like the whole innerds of the case are fried. I am thinking I will prefer changing the whole case out. So if anyone can give me a heads up on what t-case to look for, I would appreciate it. :)

Bw4405..

Ah, thank you very much. Its crazy how expensive these things are from parts houses.

Ok, So I just found this again and rememberd that I had posted this. I have been doing some more research here lately and have searched and am having trouble finding what I need. So far from what I have seen, the 4405 has 3 different part numbers. Is there any way to tell which part number goes to a specific vehicle? I know the numbers are all the same, but all end with different letters. Like CA, RA, and FA i believe.

But the definate Tcase on this explorer is a 4405? I just want to be sure.

I know it would be easier to just go look at the part number on the X its self, but its an hour and a half away right now and I have no way of getting there at the moment.

I appreciate any replies. Thank you.

Don't know which suffixes are for which years, but if your case is out of a 96, you need a replacement from a 95-96 for it to be a bolt-in affair. The 97 case has a different front output shaft, and a 98-01 case will not have the facilities for the rear shaft speed sensor you need for the Control Trac system to work.

Good luck!

I dunno either but its not the GA since this GA was on a '97 Edie Bauer.

Ok, thanks yall. I was going to just go diving at a junk yard and see what I could find. I tend to make sure im looking at the specific year vehicle that Im after. Cant be too sure. Unless Im positive it will work, im not getting one off of a diff year.

But ill make sure its a 95-96. Again. Thanks yall.

Ok, so I got down to look at the T-Case. I got the number off of it and got a surprise. Its a F77A 74195 GA. I think that the 4 is supposed to be an A. So thats weird. I am going to go check it again. And its a 96 XLT V6. I checked the VIN.

OK, so its an A. It matches that number on the tag you posted. But It is a 96. So thats weird. I have to find a 96 GA.
