2002 XLT
My 2002 XLT still runs fine but has a big drop in mileage even with cold weather. In searching other posts it seeems likely that the 02 sensors or pressure regulator could be the culprets. It has 96K on the clock but the plugs are new 10K ago. One post says the sensors only last about 70or80K. Plug wires are still original but seem in good condition. No cel or codes. Love the truck but your sugestions on this would be appreciated. AAlso how do you clean the MAS?

Mine is doing the same thing. I think it has to do with the fuel. From what I understand, if you live in colder states, its harder for the fuel to combust. I notice in the winter months in VA, my MPG drops by like 2 mpg and when it warms up, It goes back up to like 17mpg roughly.

Unless you are running a jet engine, you will get lower MPG in cold weather than you do in warm weather. Has to do with the density of the air and the fuel/air ratio. I get about 21 MPG in my 02 (4.0L) in the summer, and about 17 or so in the winter.
