My 92, has never in the last year ive owned her, gotten past even halfway on the "N" on normal, even in 90 degree weather, ac crankin, but today it was probably 101 outside, and she got up to the middle of the "O" stop and go traffic, so it wasnt like I was cruisin :p

Whats the hottest yours has ever been?

anywhere within the midsection of normal should be fine. if you were in stop and go in 101 degree weather it makes sense that it got that hot, since usually stop and go creates more heat than highway driving since the hot air cant escape the engine bay.
many gauges sit differently, i would only get concerned if it got up to where the M or A letters are in normal.
if its 95 outside, and im in stop and go, i usually sit right at, or slightly above the O.

Yeah, my 95 has a little coolant leak, so for the hour ride home, we just put water in there, and i kept the windows open, and heat cranked, and she got maybe a centimeter above the "C" line, cus the 2nd gens dont say anything besides C on the bottom and H on the top lol

I got mad when I got my 92, last winter (07 winter) cus it never even got close to the N, it always sat like half an inch from it, so I thought it never worked, then it warmed up outside, and i noticed it would move a little, and I thought maybe its innacurate, but nope it moves now :D lol

if it never heats up until the weather is hot it might mean that your thermostat failed and is stuck open.
it happened to me last winter and it would never get warm on really cold days.

generally its best to run at temp levels close to the middle of the guage for second gens, or right around O and R for first gens.
since that will get you the best gas mileage, since everything can move easier.

Plus it stayed a little cooler probably cus I had the heat blasting ALL winter....(in the 92)
