Hey guys! I decided to join the forum because in a few weeks Ill be buying my parents 2000 5.0L explorer and I want to do my best to keep it exploring for years to come. I love going on outdoor adventures and I cant wait to put ol' "Big Blue" to work!

You didn't say if it's AWD or RWD. How many miles? The 5.0 and 4R70W is a strong combination, make sure you keep up on the maintenance.

I've had my '99 5.0 AWD Mounty for about 2.5 years, just about to turn over 270,000 miles. Last Summer I went through the brakes (all 4 corners) and front end. With about $600 in parts and the help of this fine forum I've got the second best handling vehicle I've ever driven (Subaru SVX is #1 ).

Sunday morning I was cruising up to my local ski resort where I work a second (Fun!) job during the Winter. I was playing tag with a couple of Subarus and an Audi (all AWD and MUCH newer than my '99). Nothing unsafe, two lanes going my way and I never changed a lane. They would pass me on the few straight aways (because I saw no reason to stomp my throttle) but I would cruise right by them in the twisties.
