So can anyone riddle me what changed to cause the stock OEM steelie wheel to be $489 my price ($530 retail) as compared to $90 previous gen?

We've gone through 3 already and my agency routinely destroys wheels at a fever pace....

Anything for government or military gets marked up 4x. The same thing sold in canada is about US$100 per wheel.

Found some for $380 but they all want $125-$200 shipping. My dealer might match the $380 price here.... Maybe I can drive up north and meet someone on a bridge with cash in hand....

Curious: Anyone know a reason the 2014-2019 PIU wheels cannot be used on the 2020 for a snow tire situation?

Different offset?

I believe it has to do with the center hub bore. The 2020 is 70.5 mm and the previous ones I believe were 63.4 mm. I had the 18" on my 2017 Platinum but with the different size tires etc on the Aviator I opted to sell them with the Explorer and just install winter tires on the OEM wheels instead.

Thanks Peter....Looks like I'm gonna wait to see what's up with these stock wheels in the USA....

Seems weird they are $380 each all of the sudden....

A machine shop can fix that issue, somewhere around $40 a wheel I was told.

Dang, there must be at least a dozen of these (18x8 steelies) laying around at the parts yard I go to ...They got four PIUs (2013, 2014, 2017) sitting there thanks to the Sheriff's questionable driving habits. Some are obviously bent and unusable, but most of them seemed just fine and even had V-rated rubber with 50% left on them. Only issue is you got pick to them up in Boise. We need some kind of national freight service that the Explorer club could leverage to move parts to where they are needed without breaking the piggy bank.

FYI, the steelies for the 2020 are different than those used on the 5th gen. Different center bore size, so not a direct fit.
