I went to switch into 4WD today with my 2001 Explorer Sport and nothing happen, no light came on , no clicking sound, just stayed in 2WD . Would someone please explain to me what is happening? This snow is piling up and getting deep and 2WD is not going to get me anywhere.

2001 would have 4auto/4hi/4lo right?

check all the fuses first, it may be that easy
or take off the radio surround , see if the switch is hooked up,
the switch must have voltage to make anything happen,,

when the plug is disconnected from the switch, both 4wd lights on the dash will flash (atleast in mine they did) i would also suggest checking fuses. check in the Power Distribution Box under the hood also. as well as the fuse block in the dash.

neither 4hi or 4lo works id say its electrical. check the back of the t-case motor, maybe the plug came off/broke or a wire is broke

No I don't have a dry spot right now, but thanks anyway.

Thanks, for the help in pointing me in the right direction. I just wanted you let everyone know that I ended up replacing the 4X4 Control Module and walla I have my 4 wheel drive back. Thanks again.

Good deal... Have fun playing in the snow! :)

So your four wheel drive was in a control module ? Small wonder I put my wife in an AWD.......
Atleast it wasnt in a button or light.
