I can't tell from the wiring diagrams in a pretty old Chilton's manual that also covers the Ranger and Bronco II.

Is the cruise control speed regulated by the ABS sensor in the rear differential? Or is it the sensor in the transfer case?

If I remember right, it is on the right side of the tranny towards the front...Anyone with a Haynes verify that???

Answer Is...

It's part of the speedometer gear assembly. There's an electrical connector on the assembly, which goes into the transmission near the tail shaft on the driver's side. I replaced it for $23.00.

Incidentally, that's not the problem with my cruise. I'll be doing more inspecting this weekend.
