Hi all, new to the forums! My girlfriend drives a 1996 Ford Explorer XLT, and it recently died on her while driving home from work. It wouldn't start up again. Towed it home, and I replaced the battery, it was 6 years old and rather corroded. Started up for me just fine. She took it to work the next day and on the way she started having the same problem, lights dimmed, dash dimmed, everything, and then it died as she was pulling into work. Got it towed home *again*. Ran a multimeter across the terminals and it read 9 volts, crazy low for a new battery. Started it (barely) and ran the multimeter on the batter again, it was still slightly under 9 volts. Took out the alternator and took it to o'reillys to have it bench tested, they said it was fine, putting out plenty of juice, diodes ok, everything. Now, because the alternator wasn't charging the battery, that was my one and only guess as to the faulty part. I've been reading recently about this 175 amp "megafuse" "maxifuse" thing that is between the alt. and the battery, but for the life of me, I have no idea where it is. I found another thread on here talking about it with a nice purple circle showing it, but that does not exist in her car, at least in that spot. WHAT DO I DO! I have no idea what's wrong with her car at this point. Thanks for any help, and sorry for the somewhat long post.
*Edit* I know *very* little about cars, I learn as I go, so techno-y mumbo jumbo probably won't help me out too much.
