Ok, I'm officially fed up...where is it on my '02 Explorer 4x4???? I even removed the driver's side tire and could only find a small rubber cover to what appears to be the brafe fluid bleeder on the rear brake. Only other rubber piece I found was covering the access poit for the emergency brake spring and it would not come out. Does anyone have a pic? My Chilton manual doesn't show anything. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

The rear rotor must be removed the adjust the adjustment screw.
You may see if your local auto parts store rents a Brake Adjusting gauge, or if you have a big pair of calipers, Use the Brake Adjusting Gauge to set the rear brake shoe and lining diameter to 107 mm (0.042 in) less than the inside diameter of the drum portion of the rear brake disc.

Did I miss something?
Well anyway on my 05 there is knockout on the back of the backing plate on drivers side about the 7 oclock position. Its like a electrical knockout on a metal electrical box.
Its tough to get out. Use a long punch and hit it 90 deg away from the 2 contact points. If you bend the hell out of the backing plate you can straighten it out when you get the rotor off. On my 05 that is. Good luck

How do I remove the rear brake caliper and rotor? Also do I need to remove the pass. rear tire and adjust the right side or is it just the rear driver side tire that has the star adjustment wheel?

thx, 02XLS
