I am trying to replace my Oil Presure Switch on my '00 EB V8.

The chiltons manual says it's on the front left of the engine, but doesn't have is picture. I tried to look but there are all kinds of other things on the front of the engine. Does anyone know exactly where it is? Is it buried behind something or just out of sight?

I can find just about anything on my wifes V6 but it seems they really had to crap everyting in there to fit the V8.

Oh and notice I say switch, because like some people have said in other posts it's a dumb guage and is powered by a pressure switch not a "sensor"

Thanks

Thanks, figures they would bury the damn think, I knew it was too easy that the part was only $12.

Why are you replacing the switch?
My '00 V8's oil gauge has started acting weird when cold. Not working at all, then bouncing around, and then finally settling down after the engine is warm. I assume it is a sending unit/switch problem.

That is the exact reason I'm replacing it. I don't like seeing the check guage light for the first 5 minutes of driving.

I meant to do it this past weekend but the "Honey Do" list came first.

I am fixing to replace this same switch on one of my V-8's. Thanks for the picture.

I think that pic was from a V6. In the Haynes book this is where they show the location on the V8.

Keep us updated on if this solves your problem or not. I have the same problem with my V6. And if the switch is only 12 bucks I'm not about to pay the dealer $100 deductable to do it.

No, just replacing the dumb light. I don't see the point to a real guage. If the oil pressure is within the proper range then that's all I care about. I don't really care what the exact pressure is.
