I just purchased a speedometer recalibration chip. The installation sheet for 98-01 Explorers instruct me to splice into the "ABS controller pin # 19" which should have a grey/black wire. Where is this pin # 19 at?

As an alternate idea, I suppose I could splice into the grey/black wire anywhere if I could make sure it is the right grey/black wire. The chip unit will be installed somewhere inside the vehicle under the dashboard so I prefer to find a place to splice near the front of the vehicle. Can anyone point me to the easiest place to splice into that wire, or help me find that mysterious pin # 19?

The gy/bk wire you seek is on pin 19 of the abs controller module connector, on the driver side fender well, where the abs pump is. you can also splice into the circuit at one of the following devices:

overhead console (pin 4)
air suspension module (if equipped) (pin 3)
radio (pin 9)
message center (if equipped) (pin 11)
gem module (pin 9)
instrument cluster (Pin 1)
pcm (pin 58)
cruise control servo (pin 3)

all are the gy/bk wire. hope this helps

Thanks! But I just realized something; I'm an idiot... I still have Herc in my driveway and I've been taking stuff off of it and putting it on the Explorer. Many years ago when I went to 33's on Herc, I had a Dallas Ford dealership reflash my computer to match the 33" tires. I'm thinking I should simply put Herc's PCM in this one, and that will negate the need to figure out this stuff out and splice into any of my wires.
