I have a '92 XLT and has had no problems. A few months ago, I installed a CD changer by myself and works fine. However, I have a few problems with some minor things. First, whenever I turn on the headlights or parking lights, the CD changer resets, which gets annoying after a while. When I was installing it, I spliced the Accessory wire to the illumination wire on the back of the radio, and the permanent power source to the battery feed wire on the back of the radio. Is this my problem? Do I need to switch the wires around? Which wire from the changer goes with what wire at the back of the radio? I was following the diagram on the back of the radio wire harness. Also, whenever I want to take the CD magazine out, I have to have the key in the ignition turned back to the ACC position so that the changer gets power. Some of my friends have CD changers and don't have to do this. Is this related to the first problem? If not, what might this problem be? Any ideas?

Thegoon- I must say you've picked two of the worst places to connect your two wires. The problem you're having with your cd player resetting when you turn on the headlights is based on the fact that your dash lights dim when you turn on the headlights. (they are brighter when the lights are off because it's usually daytime and they need to be brighter. When the voltage drops for the dimming it going below your cd player's minimum voltage requirement and it shuts off momentarily. So you need to move this. Connect this wire where the other wire you installed is connected. This will turn the player on when the key is turned on. Then take that wire and connect it to the memory wire on the stereo. When you test for this wire on the back of the stereo it will always be on. This will allow you to get the magazine out all the time. I hope this helps, I know it can be frustrating.
