I got the alphanumeric code out of my computer, but I don´t know which one is the code to order a chip or module, mine is a 99 sport 4x4 4.0L V6 OHV manual trans.
It have two alphanumeric lines one over the other and a JDP1 beside the conector.

Can anybody tell me which one is the right one?

The code should be 3 letters and 1 number so JDP1 should be your computer code. I purchased and received my superchip but after I installed it, the truck would not start. I had to 'Overnight' my computer and chip to them so they can fix the problem. Hopefully you won't have that problem.

Jesus, sounds like JDP1 is your code, whoever you order your chip from will know for sure.

I know this is an old thread so I hope I get some replies. Anyway, I got my superchip today and my X won't start. It cranks but it won't start. Is that the problem you had config?

in the superchip instructions it says you may have to install some jumpers. some people do this themselves, others have the company they bought the chip from (or a tv repair shop) do it. whoever you bought the chip from should be able to help you out; if not, then maybe you should contact www.superchips.com

good luck man. i know some people have to do this and its a pain, but its not supossed to be too hard (luckily, mine didnt require it :D )

ooo, another thing i just thought of thats probably easier is to make sure you cleaned the contacts well enough. if theres any stuff left on there, youre gonna have problems.

I bought the chip from performance products through the group buy on this site. It said in the instructions that if I had this problem they will fix it for me and pay for overnight shipping. As for the contacts... I was starting to see a little copper so I stopped. I don't think thats the problem.

This is quoted from the red notice that was included in the instructions:

"It has come to our attention that a few 1998-2000 Ford Vehicle ECU's have been modified by the manufacturer. Because of these modifications, after installing our Superchip, your vehicle may not start. This in no way harms your vehicle or its computer. Once you remove the chip, your vehicle will start back up and run just as before. If this occurs with your vehicle, please give us a call at 888-CAR-CHIP or 407-260-0838 to obtain an RMA number. DO NOT RETURN THE CHIP OR COMPUTER WITHOUT CALLING AND OBTAINING AN RMA#. Once you receive your RMA number, you can send your computer along with your Superchip to us and we'll make the necessary changes..."

Guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow.
