My 2002 XLT 4-door makes a whistling sound while on the freeway. The sound seems to start at about 70 mph, or when the headwind and speed combind are about 70. From the driver's seat it sounds like the sound is coming from where the windshield (lower left) meets the hood area. My wife says the sound also happens on the passenger side. I thought it might be the side mirrors, but I've flipped them down and moved them around, and the sound continues. I'm pretty sure it's not the window seals either. It sounds like blowing over the top of a bottle only a higher pitch. And it seems to do it more in hot weather, over 90 degrees, but then again it's always hot in Arizona so who knows. Any help.

Sounds like the IAC valve to me. Do a search for IAC for more info. When they start to get dirty/worn they make a howling noise, especially at higher temps.

The IAC is more an idle noise. Sounds to me like the windshield seal is bad. The heat may be causing it to expand and allow for the whistle...
