I just got in from a 3 hour trip. The next morning I started my car after a rain storm and when the A/C was turned on high, white smoke started coming out of the vents and the smell was a "wood" burning smell. Does anyone have any clue what could be wrong. I have a 1992 XLT 4x4 with 80,000 miles. Also, the A/c now does not work on the first 3 speeds, only the highest one it works. Thank you very much.....either post a message here, or email me directly jtk87245@ucf.edu

Thats funny, I had a similar problem when I moved on down here to florida, white smoke, but I believe mine to be condesation and/or a problem with my cheap conversion to 134a refridgerant, but my a/c still works and has not lost any pressure. With yours I have no idea what the probelm is, mabye a leak of refrigerant from the a/c system. Go to Auto Zone, get a pressure reder for $5 and see if your charge is low. All the advice I have for ya.

I remember seeing in a lemon aid guide that that problem might be from a plugged front air intake for the a/c Try unclogging the little vent in front of the windsheild. A reason that the fan might not blow air on low speed is there might be a bag or something stuck under the dash in the max/ac recirculating vent?
