Whos arm rest has broken?

Hey all!
I don't know if its just poor design or what, but my '98 Explorers arm rest broke clean off. Bummer I know. There are 3 Explorers in my family, all have had broken arm rests. Mine broke where the neck of the arm rest is attached to the top part. Johnny took it off and tried some epoxy to glue it all back together, but it broke again. Are the newer ones any better? Any ideas on a fix for this? Let me know before we invest in a "fresh" one from Ford.

mine broke also so i sent the wife to our local ford dealer and,and they installed a new pin and hardware
cost me 35 bucks canadian?

mine broke too.

if you go to the ford dealer, you can get a stronger metal part for about $30.

yep, they just put a new one in for free.

Can anyone post the part numbers? The armrest on my 91 is missing also would be nmice to get it back together.

the cheaper ones save them money. and if it breaks and you have to buy the better replacement, they make money.

everything a car company does revolves around money...
