I have a 1999 Mountaineer and it is leaning to the driver side. Both front and back wheel wells are 1" lower than the passenger side.

Is it the shocks? The springs? or something else?

I do hear a loud twang when I make left hand turns.

THE GANGSTER LEAN RETURNS!!!

mine has it too, i've been told by many people that its because the gas tank and the driver are on the same side, so the suspension on that side wears faster. :)

1. Age
2. Week leaf springs
3. Fuel tank on driver side plus weight of driver causes the driver side to sit lower over time.

So what should I get fixed? Replace the shocks? Or the springs? or maybe both??

Add-A-leafs for the rear (AAL) & Torsion twist on the front (TT). Shocks have nothing to do with supporting the weight. They are only there to dampen the ride and maintain control.

Do a serach for AAL & TT and you will find plenty of information on how to do it.
