Widening my stance.

I have an '02 XLT that I never even considered modifying until the other day. Then I saw a guy driving the same truck, but with a much wider stance. The wheels looked to be about 20% wider than factory and extended an inch or two beyond the wheel wells. I haven't been able to find a photo online of quite the same thing. Most of the photos I find that are similar are total ghetto sleds and that's not what I'm interested in. Does anyone know; a: what I'm talking about, b:how to do it, and c: if it will screw up my offroad capabilities?

Wheel spacers could help.

Wider wheels with a different offset would also do the trick.

Search for offset, there is a great thread out there disgussing this, explaining it well and the pros/cons of the subject.
