Greetings, fellow Ford Explorer afficionados....
I'm gettin ready for a full on Rock Ready Explorer and I'm in need of guidance. I want an Atlas 4.3:1 transfer case in a real bad way. BUT, I have a '96 5.0 All Wheel Drive. Advance Adaptors says it will replace the stock Borg Warner 1350 transfer case in the Explorer. Well, My AOD tranny has this really weird thing called an AWD transfer case hangin off of it......

Here's my question: Since Advance Adaptors has no idea if my AOD's tailhousing bolt pattern is the same as normal Explorers with Borg Warner 1350 t-cases, Does anyone know if these two tailhousings are the same/different , so I will know if I can purchase my long awaited Atlas t-case to go with my 4" lift and solid axle swap???

Thanks in advance guys,
'Brett

You can't use a "normal" 4.0L atlas behind your 5.0.

Surprised that they don't make a version to bolt to a 5.0 though...........

Atlas Swap

Never say never, then.....
If my AWD AOD tailhousing isn't the same as the one for the Borg Warner 1350 t-case for the Atlas T-case swap, I'll just have to swap tailhousings too.
Always a way to get'er done....

You can't just swap tailhousings between transmissions. You can get an atlas II for the 4r70w, just give AA a call.

Kewwl....!
So the Atlas II for the 4r70w , along with the Ex kit containing the 1" spacer, twin stick shifters, etc...

I'm an Early Bronco guru....the late models AOD's have integrated tailhousings, huh?

Nice rig, btw.
