Bought a 1997 XLT AWD V8 a while back, took her in to get a tune-up and found out the guy i bought it from took out the front driveshaft and that the transfer case slips. Was wondering if I need to replace the transfer case before putting in the front driveshaft in order for it to work properly. thanks.

What is meant by slip, I believe with AWD a determined amount of slip is aloud on dry roads and such to allow for it not to bind. As for taking the shaft out, it sounds like he just wanted rear wheel drive instead of all.
