I have a 95 Ranger XLT, 5 speed standard, 4cyl with 115,000 miles. I recently started hearing a winding down noise when coming to a stop. It started in extremely cold weather. It isn't very loud, but loud enough. I start to hear it anywhere between 20 and 0 mph. Hitting the breaks doesn't affect it. Pushing in the clutch doesn't effect it. Reving the engine doesn't affect it. I don't seem to hear it if I never get out of first gear. It's starting to sound like the transmission or the differential. Obviously, I'm hoping it isn't. Anyone had a similar problem? Any ideas? Thanks.
