Hi all
I've had my new VIN# for some time now and the past week been checking daily on that link that gives you your vehicle window sticker. Well, today it was finally available and came up.

Question: Now that the window sticker is up does that mean.
1. The vehicle is physically built, out the door, and on the way being delivered to the dealer.
2. The vehicle is now just entering production and this window sticker has simply only been "generated" and will be stuck on when the vehicle exits the assembly line in a week or so.
Or
3. Somewhere in between, maybe about to come off the line in a couple days.

I'm only asking because I estimate about 2 weeks in transit from Chicago to me in Ontario Canada, which the the ford dealer and factory rep has told me ETA Nov 18th...yet Saskia on these forums has said Dec 2nd.

Kind of trying to gather a timeline to figure out which date is it?

I'm getting anxious being that I ordered my 2014 Sport in July...yes, July! I waited almost 10wks and was supposed to receive it Sept 20th but My dealer messed up and order the wrong colour (Black instead of Silver). Now in the fall and I guess demand even higher the new build was an even longer wait 14wks (ETA early to Mid January!).
However; after getting Ford involved they went above and beyond to make the situation better and queued my new VIN# a little closer up the line resulting in this better ETA.

So, for the above question 1, 2 or 3?
Thanks

The actual build date is shown as part of the number on the bottom right of the window sticker. Mine showed 1201102242750. I have highlighted the date. It was delivered to the dealer in Cassleman, Ontario (just East of Ottawa) on Friday, March 11th and I picked it up on March 14th. It went by rail from Chicago to a place just outside of Toronto and then by truck transport to the dealer. So to answer your question, it is #2 .
BTW, it doesn't take a week to build it. I think it is only about 18 hours.

Correct, it means your vehicle is in the que for production and has an actual build date.

Probably be built in about a week or so and then 4-8 weeks to ship to your dealer...

You can PM Ford Customer Service and they will track for you...

It's an exciting time!

That is a long time for shipping. As I posted above, mine was built Feb. 24th and at the dealer 15 days later, March 11th.
Of course these times could differ depending on where they ship to and the number of vehicles ready to be shipped.

Awesome that helps! The number on my window sticker is 1201311110262, So it looks like it will come off the line then on Nov 11th. Which makes sense. The window sticker was generated on the 5th and from the time they stamp steel, weld, paint, trim...until a finished product comes off the assembly line is I believe about 5 or 6 days, 18hr sounds short. I go onsite often to GM in Ingersol Ontario where they build the Equinox and Terrain and I believe it's about 4-5 days from start to finish ...my previous vehicle was an Equinox from that plant.

Only question now, is delivery from Chicago to Cambridge, Ontario about 1 week for for Nov 18th like my dealer said. Crossing my fingers!

Mine will be built on the same day. :)

The 18 hours came from another post in another thread. I have watched programs where they show vehicle assembly lines and it is quite normal to have them built in less than a day. Everything is pre built and all they, mostly robots, do is put it together. It is really something to see. I looked at one site on the Internet dated Oct. 31, 2009 and it stated that Ford produces 500 cars per day per plant and that it takes 6 hours to build a car. That was 4 years ago. That 15 day delivery time of mine included sitting in the rail yard for several days.

One way to know when your EX is finally built is to create your account on syncmyride (or whatever it is called now). Now that you have a VIN, you can create your account with it. Then if you check it daily, it will all of a sudden show the version that has been installed. That is generally one of the last things to do on these vehicles so the day it is installed is generally the day it rolls off the assembly line.

Once the window sticker is available online it means the order has been "sent to plant" and is assigned a "rotation" number. The rotation number is a 4 digit number and means when in the line it will be built. Every part is attached to this number so they are all correct and in the correct order for each particular vehicle. Vehicles are not built in vin number sequence but rather by this rotation number. Once in production it's pretty easy to find a particular vehicle based on that number since they go sequentially. (ex. 8755,8756,8757) Once an order is "sent to plant" there is no stopping it from being built, whether the correct parts are in place at the correct time or not. Build issues are fixed after production as the line cannot be stopped even for incompatible build issues.

Would you know when Job 2 starts for the Explorers and what, if any, changes are being made?

Bianca at FordService.ca informed me in a PM that "Job 2" started Nov. 2nd.

Got our Explorer this past Friday. Wife is loving it so far!

Anyone know what "Job 2" includes and how to tell (other than the date manufactured) if your Explorer has it?
