Wont shift into 4WD

My '98 explorer quit working to day, bummer.

When i turn the knob to 4WD high or low nothing happens. No light come on indicating 4WD.

But the 4WD light on dash flash randomly together(high and low)

Any ideas as to what the problem is?
Any body ever have anything like this happen?

I had this on my 96. If you search this site you'll find lots of post on this topic. I ended up taking mine to a shop and they took the electric shift motor off and cleaned the brushes, it's worked great ever since.

Thanks Pete. After work to day I unhooked the batery then hook it back. Everythings back to normal.
I think a lot of people get scamed by repair shops with this.
