won't shift into 4x4 please help!!

I need to sell my fiance's 93 explorer asap but i just discovered that it will not shift into 4x4. I hit the button but nothing happens at all. i cant hear anything engaging and the lights on the buttons dont light up either. i checked all the fuses and everything looks ok. any ideas? im moving in a week and the buyer is gonna back out unless i fix it. anything appreciated.

Sounds like it could be the shift motor.
