2011 explorer limited. Car is put in park but still shows as NOT in park. Has caused my battery to go completely dead. I saw a couple U tube videos with a new wire harness and switch to fix this issue. I cannot get a good part number for this kit. Does anyone know the correct part number from Ford?
Any help would be appreciated.

No, there is a kit from Ford that replaces the wire harness and switch that is within the shifter assy. There are a few videos on u tube but the part number must no longer be valid.

You have to solder the new harness onto the shifter FYI... In fact that contact point is usually what causes it to fail. I replaced my shifter from Ford parts because not only did the light stay on but the assembly was quite worn when I inspected it.

I'm not sure I understand where you solder. I see you have to remove 3 wires and reinstall on the new assy. But don't see anything about doing any soldering.
Can you show a pic of what your talking about?

I believe people who found the switch itself at 3rd party vendors were soldering. Looks like the ford kit is plug and play.

There is a metal tab that is soldered to the harness. Ive seen people have to solder the metal tab to new harness but that may not be the case anymore.

Installed the kit from Ford. Had a couple issues figuring out how to remove the 3 wires from the old connector, but other than that, works as it should and no more shift into park problems.

Appreciate the update.

Did it come with instructions?

Yes, but vague in some respects. Overall, good.
