when ever i go out and drive my car right when i turn it on and drive through my neighborhood my truck seems to be in 4wd.... when slow down or come to a stop it makes a winding or moaning noise noise and when im turning theres alot of pressure to all my wheels and it feels like my tires are trying to spin..also when im making a turn a hear clunk when there is alot of tension...when im going staight i can hear a little moaning but no cluncking and when i get over 35mph 4wd hi and 4wd low start flashing and it feels like 4wd goes off... like i said this happends every day i drive my truck and every time i turn it off... what the heck is my 4wd doing and is there any prognosis on this... i drive a 1997 expo sport sohc v-6 with control trac
4wd auto/4wd hi/4wd low... if anyone knows whats up please let my know!!!!!! thank you

shift motor needs cleaning/replacement, or your speed sensors need cleaned/replaced. How many times do the lights blink?

I dont know how many times it blinks...thats a good ? but next time i will check....first off where are the speed sensors and shift motor located at and how much do they generally run for? thank you soo much :D

do a search on here for 4wd lights. I just had to replace mine, and I got 6 blinks. The dealer charged $350 for the motor and $105 for the front speed sensor, installed. If you are handy, you can do it yourself and save some $$$$$. I didn't have the tools and time to do it.

alright---i just tested out my truck and I got the blinking 6 times do you remember what that means???

speed sensors they cost like $35 each.
from what i have read on here, the rear one you can change easily. for the front, you have to remove the transfer case motor. I am still a newbie here.

It sounds like your speed sensors are screwy, making the GEM think you have serious wheel spin, thus "locking" in 4x4, or your GEM is screwy, not incrementally decreasing the % of power sent to the front end from a start (35% and then decreasing in 5% increments until speed hits 35mph 0% is sent up front)
