Hi,
my '04 Explorer need rear half axle replacement because of seal failure in differential case, causing minor leak. I'm going to replace differential oil also. It has limited slip axle and looks like it needs XL-7 friction modifier, since I'll use Motorcraft synthetic 75W140 differential oil (XY-75W140-QL ). XL-7 is additive for synthetic oil, XL-3 for mineral oil?
Problem is, XL-7 seems to be almost impossible to find in Europe and Google can't find anyone selling it, not even part number; only XL-3 can be found. However, Ford racing friction modifier CM19546A1 seems to be easy to obtain. I think it's intended mainly for Mustang and other speedy things, but they use same differentials? Is CM19546A1 equal or close enough to XL-7 and intended to be used with synthetic diff oil?
