So, finally I am done just talking about doing it, and I got some sweet new rubber. I bought the X back in April 2008 at stock and started looming here very soon after. I have not had the money to do anything since I got it, but tires are a must as winter has set in here.

I got myself a set of 265/75R16 Pro Comp All Terrains and it looks so much better & I noticed the difference in height automatically (just stepping out before tires & in after). In the over 150 miles that I have put on them since yesterday (my dad's tire store back to my house), I have only found one spot that I was rubbing, but could have easily been avoided (full lock turn with a little speed...full lock at low speed was clean).

Anyways, here are some pictures since I know threads are WORTHLESS without pics and I agree. The first two are when I was up in the snow the day after Christmas with stock sized, bald tires...I still played with the big dogs though...Then two pics in stock condition before going into the shop & a handful of pictures after I took it out...LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!

Ever though of ditching the running boards?

def looks really good !!!! , also to me it seems just the tires alone helped level you out a bit... instead of the raised rearend.

Thanks for the responses guys...Tonight will be the test as I am starting a new job in the morning 75-95 miles away from home and have to cross mountain passes any way I go (I'll be living there during the week in case you were wondering why I said tonight).

Yes, the modding has begun. Next few things on the list in no order are...
  • Exhaust (muffler only...Aeroturbine XL series, most likely 2525XL)
  • SCT Livewire Tuner (want adjustments for tires as well as tranny temp & other readouts)
  • 3" front 2.5" rear (at the moment, I need to take some new measurements, but I was only 1/2" off before tires)
  • Front end tow hooks
  • 2" rear reciever (only has class II)

There are a few other things on the list, but there are not near as straight forward as these, and I am still in the design/though process of them...Ben, where are you on those sliders...I'm looking for a similar product/project...I have been looking for some from NFAB that would fit, but am not coming up with anything yet...Baja bar with a full wrap around the sides of the bumper...Detroit True-trac in the rear...K&N FIPK (working on a way to bypass the fact that they don't make one for the 2004)...

So anyways, the list is there (like I said, I have been looming here and giving input here & there since April), but it is just a matter of funds. I leave for USAF Basic Military Training 21 April, so there will be a void in the process, but hopefully when I get back, I may have some funds to do part of the work that I want to do.

As I don't know if I will have internet access over the next two weeks, best wishes to all throughout the month and I will try to catch up with you all the next time I am online...I know it has been a while.

Well, I found out that I have internet access while at work, so...BUMP...and here is an update on how the new rubber runs in the snow. Of course, by the time I left home on Sunday night, it was snowing there, so my entire 75 mile trip was through the glorious powdery white stuff (I actually like snow).

The tires ran great and I had now slippage that I can remember which was a huge improvement over my previous bald street queens. Monday morning I had to drive around my base which was extremely icy and I had no problems maintaining traction. I did slide on a corner once, but that was operator, not tire. I have not done too much driving since arriving at work, but what I have done has proved these tires were well worth the purchase.
