Hi all. I'm a nub from Queens, NY. Fear not - I've been on several other boards for a long time.

First Ford - ever after 20+ years of owning cars mostly GM and a couple of Japanese cars. Feels weird. Dumped my beloved 97 K1500 'Burb about a year ago, after 9 years of ownership and have regreted it ever since - sigh. Moving on, we since bought a house, had another small fry and needed again a truck/suv of some sort. I somehow liked the Explorer. Never thought I'd own a Ford but so far am loving it.

I pick it up tomorrow evening. '03 Exp Eddie Bauer 4.6L. Pretty good price. Not posting stock pics since I'm sure you all know what they look like.

Being a "car guy," I like many can't leave well enough alone - have never left any car alone really. I'm already feeling like exhaust, intake, 18" tire off-road wheel combo (had 18" Terra Grapplers on the 'Burb), tint, winter mats, blaa blaa....

:D

Thanks guys.

Well, I picked it up tonight in the hell of Jersey City, had to take the ridiculous Lincoln Tunnel, cross mid-town at rush hour an make it back to Queens. UGH!! The hell!!!

Anyways, got a little familiar with the truck. Took me 15 minutes to try and figure out how to turn on the fogs - lol. Had to resort to, oh no, RTM. Driving impressions: very happy so far, plenty of power, quiet yet nice tone when nailing it, smooth ride (for a truck), a little less spacious than I'm accustomed to, nicer looking as the hours went by, decent sound system, nice to have sunroof and memory seats... But man! Milelage in 2 hours of bumper to bumper traffic is abysmal according to the trip computer. Did OK (15 - 16 mpg) on the open roads at first.

Mind you, I'm coming from owning a 97 1/2-ton Suburban for a long time so this thing seems small to me. Guess it's all relative.

Pretty happy so far!
