290hp if it was a LSC, and that it is not.

None of the Cobra parts are interchangeable with that motor without extensive work (heads and intake).

The block is worth $450

The spring conversion sucks, it's too bouncy.

All the faux trim, is add-on not factory.

The headlamps are a problem and very dim at night.

Transmissions are the weak link in the drivetrain.

Is it worth it, yeah it's ok, but I have been buying them for $500 to $1500.

headlights not replaceable

I've read that Ford has not manufactured the headlights for several years and that if one is broken or clouded the only way to replace it is from another vehicle.

The suspension is common with the Thunderbird and the Cougar (4 wheel independent) except for the air shocks. The vehicle is 207 inches long and weighs 3800 pounds. The Thunderbird is the shortest and lightest of the three but doesn't come with the DOHC V8.

I've been considering buying one but doubt I'd be satisfied with the handling, performance and fuel economy. Its an expensive vehicle to maintain.

Jeff's right. And the LSC didn't debut until 1995, anyway. The car he's selling is a 280HP car. The wood trim wasn't put onto the center console in the Mark until 1994, but that stick on stuff is tacky.

I've found that when people lie about one thing in an ad, they'll embellish everything in the ad. I'll find an honest buyer, it could have transmission issues, he doesn't say anything about the trans. He mentions that it has remote trunk and fuel release, and that the power antenna works, but says nothing about how the car drives. :dunno:

Dale is right about the headlights, and they are very expensive to maintain, that's why people are dumping them chep. If you get one with electrical issues (radio, anyone?) look out- there are more electronics in a Mark VIII than the space shuttle... :D

There is 90 miles of wiring in these cars. (literally)

The front-end parts are sub-par for the weight of the vehicle, and so are the front brakes.

Don't get me wrong they are a really nice car, and a lot of fun to drive, and they do handle quite well for what they are, I enjoied mine while I had it for almost 2 years:
