I have done several searches, but nothing seems to fit my problem. I have an '03 Explorer 4.6L with 66K miles. It has, for lack of a better description, a rattle coming from the lower rear area of the engine. The noise is evident at idle, once the engine is warm. It also occurs on the road whenever I am accelerating. It stops the second I let off the gas. The frequency, or pitch, if you like, seems to increase with acceleration as well. The exhaust system seems to be solid, as far as I can tell by trying to crawl underneath (I'm recovering from a broken leg so my mobility is limited...both by my boot cast and by my wife:rolleyes:). Any ideas or troubleshooting suggestions will be appreciated. I'm trying to decide if this is something I need to have addressed now, or if it will wait until I'm more physically able to dig into it a bit deeper myself.

Cat converter cover maybe
