How do I remove center storage console '97 Sport?

I need to get to the seatbelt buckle to replace and I removed the screws and it doesn't come off.

:salute:

there are 4 screws under the cupholer area-

remove them and smack the console rearward. At the rear are 2 slide in mounts-the console needs to go back about 1 inch or so to release from them-

I believe there are also 2 screws holding the front of the console to the dash so remove them too. If the console doesn't budge when you smack it toward the rear, you may have to dismantle more of the console. The console on my 99 came out fairly easily with a firm bump from the heal of my hand. The console in the 97 was a PITA. Wouldn't move more than 1/4" regardless of how hard I hit or pryed on it. Had to remove the back of the console so I could pry against the slide mount to get it free.

Thanks
