Dropped the pan and pulled down the old filter. The new filter just does not hold in place no matter how hard I pushed it up. The part number of the new filter is F6AZ-7A098-A, cross referenced with FT105 on motorcraft.com

Does any one know how to fix the new tranny filter in place?

Did any one change fluid/filter on a 4R70W?

If you did, how did you put the filter firmly in place?

Thanks.

Good point-
when i changed my filter there were 3 different sized sleeves in the kit.

Is there a sleeve remaining inside the old filter's tube?
How do they compare?

I have a 4R70W in a 96 Lincoln, and the filter comes with two new O-rings. Be sure that the old O-rings are removed before installing the new filter. I put a little tranny fluid on the new O-rings and it has always pushed firmly and securely into place.
