Okay, so in this i will describe how to simply attach led lights to your speakers and subs and have them light up with the music.

You in essence will just take some 20 gauge wire or better and solder it to the positive and negative connections you'll see where it has already been wired. then you just solder the led light to the two lights and be sure they are going to the right conections. when you turn on the speaker as the power surges into the speaker making the music you will notice the light bouncing to the rhythm cool cheap easy mod. you can runn the wire and hide them under your seats Suggested the speakers pushin the highs facing forward under the driver and passenger seats then the the sub or speakers pushin your lows un the back it will give you a cool effect. i have not done this yet but i know it works so obviously no pictures but when i do finish it i will post pics if you all still want them. have fun.

Ps shrink wrap the conections to the LED light so it doesnt touch and short (bad).

That is a neat Idea. Do you have a video?

no i dont but you can youtube LED speaker mod and theres a bunch thatll show you how to do it its real simple real cheap and ten times better than those bs over priced street glow ones

I wonder how this affects the ohm load...

the leds have such a low draw unless your rocking a huge system or into spl it will make such a small difference that it wont do anything..
i have to leds in my cargo area next to my sub that i have wired to flash to my lows and i didn't notice a different draw or change in my ohms when installing.. so i think your in the clear

autozone also sells a 12v light that does the same thing. i like your idea of hard wiring it into the system though

Especially because it's instant. It changes with the electrical load, not the sound. I sometimes think Sound Activated lights are just off cause of the time. This sounds "nifty". Might have to try it sometime, it'd definitely be cheap and easy.

So MustangP51, when you trying it? You're the LED god here.

Haha I am going to play around with it to see how it works, the only thing is I don't have a sub set up and don't have a lot of experience with car audio. We will see.

i have done this with regular light bulbs before, it looks cool,, but it does affect your ohm , and after a while your amp will get hot and/or shut down, maybe for good, like mine did,,
but i would say if you were not going to do it for a long period it looks okay,, ,
btw, i went to the local auto parts store and got signal lights for a trailer to do this,, maybe with led's it will be different,

Regular bulbs use exponentially more power then LEDs do...

I can't see the LEDs creating much draw at all unless you have a rediculous number of them wired up to one speaker.

I would think if you use a led with a very light ohm rating, and aim it correctly, it could provide a great show without harming the subs/amps. I've been thinking about this, and you could probably use a few leds inside a plexiglass sub box for a cool effect.

led's use about 90% less power for the same light output compared to incandescent, so these should work just fine
