2005 Ranger Edge (Auto) Transmission Shift

My 2005 Edge shifts hard going into 3rd gear. I have been hauling a trailer with OD off. Could the tranny fluid being too full cause it to shift hard or could it be the SMART system has adjusted to shifting at higher RPMs? If i get on it, it shifts normally, but I cannot do that in traffic.

You could try disconnecting the battery to reset the computer. It will have to re-learn you driving habits and may make the change you're looking for.
