Front passenger window goes down, not up

My son is driving our 2005 Explorer at school. Today he reported he had the front passenger window halfway down and it wouldn't go up. So he put it all the way down, thinking that would help but it didn't. Window is stuck down.

Does the fact that the window went down but not up using the driver's control, give any clues to the problem? Is anything ruled out by that? Neither the driver's control or the control on the passenger door will made it go up.

Well OK, my son reports this morning that after he slammed the front passenger door he was able to get the window up, albeit slowly. Another thing to take apart & look at next spring!
