Taking my 2nd generation sport trac into ford today, wondering if anyone could tell me what it sounds like I'm looking at. I usually do a lot of highway driving with cruise control on and as of late it hasn't been maintaining it's speed well, the rpms fluctuate and will go up and down while the speed goes down a bit.

Anyway today after work I was at a light and pressed the gas and I wouldn't move until I got just shy of 3000 rpm and it took off at the next light it wouldn't go above 5 miles per hour so I pulled off to the side and nothing just wouldn't go. After a while I put it into reverse and it was fine, put it back into drive and it was fine again just went a block up to get into a parking lot while waiting for my brother to come tow me home.

Wondering if anyone has any insight?

Sounds like the converter has failed and has clogged up the filter in the trans.

Took it to ford, they said I need a new transmission, warranty is covering it so..alls well that ends well
