transmission woes

My 2000 (5.0) mountaineer is "stuttering" under load in overdrive. I've had the fluid flushed and that stopped the od light from blinking but hasnt stopped the problem. IS this a common problem? will switching to synthetic fluid help? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Has your check engine light come on? Or just the O/D light?

Is the stuttering accompanied by a vibration?

Synthetic fluid won't hurt.....

just the o/d light was blinking. The check engine used to blink but i got new wires/plugs and that took care of it. The stuttering is accompanied by a vibration (like the trans is grabbing). Any one else?

Ok does it stutter on the transition into O/D?

My mom's explorer does the same thing, but not all the time.

It stutters when you go up a hill (or under load) at around 1800-2400 rpms in OD.
