    Replacement of EVAP Hose

I think so. It's been too long. You will want a hose that is resistant to gas vapor.

    tps plug found stripped wires

Not even a service bulletin. I called Ford!

    tps plug found stripped wires

In my case, the wires were not taped past the convolute. There was a bend immediately after the convolute and the convolute chafed the insulation off. This was true in all 4 cases where I made a repair.

    tps plug found stripped wires

Nope, just lived through finding and fixing this exact issue 200 miles away from home with no tools!

    tps plug found stripped wires

You would be incorrect! This is a crappy wiring harness from Ford. The bare wires are due to chaffing from the harness cover not being properly taped over the wires and/or the wiring having a bend. There are 4 major areas where this occurs and causes a weird acting beast: 1) MAF, 2) TPMS, 3)...

It may be time for me to issue a mea culpa

You might want to check your wiring harnesses. Not sure about the V8s, but the V6s have a known wiring harness issue within insulation breaking down. When I cleaned mine up, the roar went away. See Found my ghosts in the machine

The 06 has known wiring harness insulation failures. Take a look at this thread. https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/found-my-ghosts-in-the-machine.415084/

And here I was, thinking my Explorer was a big vehicle...

You forgot one thing, and it's major: A Gen 4 Explorer has a tighter turning radius than many cars. You can u-turn on a two lane road without running off the pavement. Easiest decent size vehicle to park I've ever driver. The Gen 5 is much worse.

What brand alternator is recommended? Reman or rebuilt?

I personally like buying alternators from Advance Auto. Lifetime warranty, no questions asked.

Anyone got a part name or number for this hose

Whatever you do, please don't buy that hose. Get fuel line from Advance or Auto Zone

    Engine running like crap/shaking/eventual stall

Start here for cheap, DIY repairs. This is mainly applicable to 06-07 models. https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/found-my-ghosts-in-the-machine.415084/ Start with the Evap Hose (the one off the intake manifold).

Slight shake after extensive tune up

Check your evap hose. Replace if it turns your fingers black. Then look at this thread. https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/found-my-ghosts-in-the-machine.415084/

Cross country road trip was a success, but I may have some problems?

Everyone that has a 2006 or 2007 Explorer should look at this thread BEFORE spending a lot of money. Checking for and fixing these issues will prevent a lot of tail chasing! https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/found-my-ghosts-in-the-machine.415084/

Anyone got a part name or number for this hose

Just use a fuel line hose from your auto parts store. Less than $3. BTW, your beast will be much happier with this replaced!

    Electrical issues and swaying issues

If original struts, all 4 need to be replaced.

    Quiet down interior?

If you are having random overheating issues, check your thermostat housing. They tend to crack on the back side. The fan roar might be the fan clutch wiring. Check the 'Ghosts in the Machine' thread.
