There is not a big brake kit for the Explorer.

Power Slot rotors & Hawk ceramic pads are your best option.

nice ride man. hey what offset are those kaotics. didn't know 22's would fit on an x. did u lower it to.

I remember years ago I saw that Baer had a brake kit for the explorer. Gone now though. I have heard that you can upgrade to the sport trac brakes which are 1 inch larger. every little bit helps. Just need the mounts calipers and rotors.

well i heard, that i dont know **** about this topic and can be no help of any kind :D

you can swap in the knuckle, rotor and caliper from a sport trac, giving you 1 inch larger rotor diameter.

Jon sent me here, I'm the one who did the 2001+ Sport Trac/Sport rotor swap. Pictured below is all that you need, the SS brake line was my option, custom made. Keep your calipers, they are better than the late calipers.

Make sure that you use spindles from a 2WD Sport/Sport Trac if you have 2WD. Pictured below are my 4WD spindles. Good luck,

So you need the knuckle and the rotor.

Don, What rotors are you using? Powerslots or ???

The drilled/slotted rotors came from eBay for about $130 total. There are a ton of rotor sellers, these are the first I've tried with holes. There are less expensive versions out there, I figured I'd give a mid-range item a try. I'm delivering mail with these brakes, I have just the slightest noise so far, acceptable for my application. The top EBC pads I have are working well, like I remember from my first set on my Mountaineer, those went almost 45k miles.

I believe the 12" Sport/Sport Trac rotors do give slightly better braking, the also run a hair cooler. I should know if cracking is going to happen in a few months. Regards,

I also heard that you can use mustang brakes on the back axels for explorer's, could this also work if anyone knows?
