Well, if you have all of those plastic panels, and you want them off - do so at your own risk. However, the body molding from an 02 XLS plugs in to and covers up the holes left behind. Three pieces for each side... The strips can be painted with ease... and they are form fitting. The remaining holes will be dealt with :shifty_ey:wtf:

Red is under reconstruction, so the pics are cropped...:D

nice work man... i did the same thing with my boards when i got the springs... if u get rid of them, it gives u more clearance and makes it look taller... good to go man:thumbsup:

Thank you! That plastic was losing clips, coming lose... I decided it was time to change.

do you still have all the plastic you took off if you didnt break it all to **** lol i might be interseted

ha! :) Thanks, but I gotta keep it... a couple parts are being remolded. The running boards might go on the block for sale.

i got the running bords i wanted every thing else lol oh well guess its off to the salvage yard if i can find a decent one in the freakin state

This is off subject slightly, but does anybody know where to get steps like these from N-Fab? I like this look a lot better then the stock X boards, I would remove mine, but I don't like the frame view.

whats the differemce between the wheel base of the explorer and ther expedition if its not much you could make the expedition work

I see nothing for the Ex...

That dry, ashy frame drove me nuts too! So I painted it glossy black  Now I love it!

robly be cheaper to get a pic of the those steps and take it to a welding shop and they could probly do it for less than 200

I just took measurements on my stock boards and they are roughly 77.5 inches...When I do wheels/tires, there will be no place to weasel 2.5 inches from without worry I don't think.

Looking great Donner,
I've gotta get on the same frame cleanup project... hopefully this weekend.

Those wheels look great! How did you clean up the frame prior to paint?

^^^ X2, those wheels look most excellent D.

What are you doing to the roof??? A rack maybe?

Thanks! The frame had been washed with just a coin-op high pressure washer. After it dried, I went over it with one of the sponges (green and yellow). The green side took off any stuck dirt, and the yellow smoothed it out...

Then, Duplicolor! Those angles are tough to reached (disabled), so I'm waiting to see some of the work you all do :) It was actually fun! I recommend a good set of knee pads... ouch.

I put the light bar back on the roof rack, but the lights will change... we'll see :)

looks good. I plan on LineXing mine here shortly.

Looks good, is there any holes to cover up or is it all smooth behind the plastic?

Sounds like a great plan

There are many holes! But the strips cover all but 2 of the door holes. There are holes along the fender also...

With the holes remaining, have you put a rubber grommet in them to stop water and dust entering the door? I'd imagine you'd want to do something to seal them properly, as the trim will allow water in dust in, which may lead to corrosion in the long term.
