i've got an 03 ex. i'm looking to make it look my own. i want to lift my ex but not go to wild. i wanna keep it tame but badass looking at the same time. now the first question. how do spacers aboce the struts work? i know that they bolt on but do they change the ride quality at all? the second question is i was thinking of eather running a 235-75-16 or a 245-75-16 tire maybe a toyo open country at or goodyear athourity at. like i said dont wanna go hog wild just make it look nice.

from what i have read the spacers really dont change the ride quality of your X, but you will just be a little more top heavy. MAX SPACER LIFT = 2.5'', but for your look i would suggest 2'' up front 1.5'' in the rear...

the tires you are thinking about would look retarded with 235's or 245's... the tires would look so small compared to the awesome wheel gap you would have, not a great look lol... i would suggest a minimum of 265/70/16's for this size lift

hope this gets the info and suggestions flowing for ya fella

well the other opion i was looking into was that rancho quick lift but all i have read about that was bad remarks towards it

The rancho lift are springs... which over time will sag, and no longer provide the full lift that the kit says...

i think THEPOTROAST has the biggest lift available for the explorer, so maybe he will chime in on this thread or PM him about his set up, or possible options...

but if your really considering lifting, then def a minimum tire size of 265/70/16's for it to look good

aight. what about if i wouldnt do a lift wich two of the tire sizes would look better on the truck?

what 2 tires sizes are you reffering to ? ( without lifting )

I have 265/70/16 with no lift and they fit perfect, here is a couple pics for you

do you have any issues with hitting or rubing?

Personally if i wanted larger tires i would go 265/70/16's just like Tyler did... plus his rim / tire set up is a personal fav of mine on the site...

my suggestions would be if you want larger tires...

255/70/16

255/75/16's - 31'' tire

265/70/16's - Tylers size

265/75/16's - Max size without lifting ( no rubbing )

I have very minimal rubbing at full lock which could easily be trimmed(rubs on the plastic inner wheel well and does no damage). I hardly ever turn full lock so its not really an issue.

I saw my name was mentioned above so I'll just chime in here. I lifted my 03 with suspension spacers and a body lift. The spacers did not affect the ride quality whatsoever, and I've had no issues with them...they installed very easily and are durable. The body lift is more time consuming and requires some modifications to make it work properly.

If you are wanting to put any kind of lift on your truck, you need something bigger than 235's or 245's....those are what come stock on the trucks to begin with and the gap would be too much.

If you do a lift, might as well get rid of the horrible factory rake that all explorer's have, where they sit lower in the front and higher in the rear. I did a 2.25" front spacer and 1.75" rear spacer...the .50" difference levels the truck out...combined with my 3" body lift I'm at over 5" of total lift, not to mention the 33" tires (285/75/16) add some height to the truck as well.

If you do a 2" lift, get some 32" tires (265/70 or 265/75) and that would set it off. The spacer lift is much easier to install than the body lift....

ha i knew it was only a matter of time before you chimed in lol

heres mine with a 3" body lift and 265/75/16 Goodyear Duratracs. Body lift wasnt bad to install either.
