How long will this piece last if it vibrates a little........And what special tools needed.....is it a do it yourself project?

Fix it ASAP if it is wobbling. I had one that squeaked and wobbled and drove it a week and when I went to get it fixed ($300) the mechanic said that if I would have waited another week it would have come undone and shot through the front end when I was driving. He may have been exaggerating but you should fix it sooner than later. It cost $300 parts and labor because if you're not handy, you'll get yourself into a mess. If you're handy then be ready to remove front end components like the fan and fan shroud and all that. I'm sure you can get the part from the local autozone as well as the removal/installer tools for rent.

This pulley is not wobbling whats so ever just the rubber piece in side might be broke.........slight clicking sound when running.......all looks fine when running.......For it to come apart is hard to believe it's a steel pulley......Well I usually buy thru NAPA the pulley cost about $95.But I checked Autozone and they are $250........Both harmonic balancers for my 2004 St....what could be the difference with that..usually NAPA will be on the high side only because their parts are better........which brand is best anybody know?

Common problem on 2004 model year explorers. It will give rough idle and vibration at lower rpms. Basically what you have is out of balance engine which eventually could cause a problem.

A pulley will do all that ???......What kind of damage will this cause if somebody lets this go for a long time?.....

The damper is there to absorb the vibration an engine produces while running. Put it this way I have never had anyone not fix it at the dealership so I don't have a time frame for a problem.

What to look for when 2004 St models had with the Pulley/Balancer.
And the new one ford has now......Replaced and no more vibration, fluttering feeling at Idle.

Sweet.
What about using the "Power Pulley" (like ASP, Stuff-for-your-Ranger or ZabTech)?
