I bought the Scosche Dash kit for my explorer and neither one that came with it fit, I looked through and most explorers use this one so it is the right one. Look at the top of my radio and you'll see the gap. Anyone else have this problem??? How can i fix it just rig it up or something??

scosche's website shows model #FD3090 and #FD1422B fitting an 05 explorer. The fd1422b says its for a mustang though. Are these the two you speak of?

Sometimes a single din works better. In my gf's car a double din would look out of place. I personally like the look of his single din. I've also wanted to paint my bezel and that purple looks good. I hope we can figure out what is wrong so you can enjoy your new head unit.

use the metra kit.. its alot better fit..my works great with no gaps.

What size is your screen?? I was told double din wouldn't fit in our explorers...... #### yea ill get a double din!! Gotta pull this one out now =>

screen is 6.2''

it is an alpha nav 5650nv, i scored it for a fantastic deal. under $200

i used the scosche harness and dash kit. it all fits well. only thing i ran into is my passenger rear speaker is not receiving power and when the purple wires are connected it will turn all sound off. so until i find that problem purple wires are unhooked.

factory radios should be double din, i have yet to see a factory setup for the 3rd gen that isn't.

EDIT

NVM lol didnt see you posted name

that should fit. there are buttons left to the screen, so only the screen is 6.2'' the whole unit is the same as that unit.

all double dins should be the same, there is an industry standard in automobile audio.

If it has angle adjustments it will..

Here is the 7" double din I had. The screen slid down to put a CD in, so I had to slide the screen down, then snap the bezel into place, and then slide the screen to normal(angle 3) position. It rested on the plastic beneath the radio opening

When I say "slid down" the bottom of the screen came towards me so the screen itself was facing the roof

So glad I upgraded. 7" screen was overkill and volume buttons absolutely suck!

Current unit. 6.1" JVC
