Green gem was my top choice..there was none out there when I bought so I took the blue. I really like the sunset color and am curious about the new dark side..couldn't tell from the color chip.
Our dealer searched and searched for a green one and couldn't find one. It was my wife's first choice whike i would have been been happy with blue. We finally just ordered one and I couldn't be happier with the color.
The green Ford Explorer is the best color I'd say. There's a reason why a lot of the 2nd gens I've been seeing are green. It just makes you happy! (Well, scientifically, green is a happy color, that's why they try to paint the walls green in hospitals)
Phew!! So they dc'd the Green Gem, eh?? We special ordered from the factory and waited and waited for EXACTLY that color...obviously we didn't really want it. And yeah, it looks just awful in the woods...
I am a bit of a green freak. Last 4 new Fords have been green (96 Explorer, 99 F-150, 04 Explorer, 07 F-150). When we ordered the 13 Explorer we got Deep Impact Blue and broke trend. In bright light the green looks good but less lighting or overcast it is just a tad on the dark side for me.
So why did they discontinue that color that almost every 2nd gen Explorer I see had it? It's like an iconic color. I mean, the Ford is trying to go greener right with their fuel efficient Explorer afterall.
I would like to see the sales figures. Money would be the one deciding factor in canceling a product. I like the green. Sharp looking. Resale doesn't come into play with Corporate decision making does it? I thought they would only be interested in new unit sales.
