I hear the vacuum hissing but don’t know where it connects
What am I looking at ?

That pipe is not a vacuum connection, I think it's the vent tube for the transmission, just leave it alone.

Welcome to the forum.

No need to cap it. It is a vent. (If you intend on running off road in deep water, you might re-route it.)

It is fine for daily driving.

I was driving them all of a sudden I felt a give in the thrust and then there was none .
It did not shut off .
It did not go into any gear besides park(I think)
Had “normal” rpm at idle
Just no torque or gear , drive , forward pushing
(It has popped in and out of gear here and there then u rev it and it would pop back and drive
I remember cycling through gears until I could hear it engaging sometimes
Mostly noticed it when it’s cold .)
No funny crunchy noises.
Engine light would go on for a little then shut off.
When I would “floor it” it would rev high and accelerate then drop suddenly 2000rmp give or take ( just a noticeable drop)
And then gradually accelerate at a slow steady climb to the speed needed
Thought that could be cat(which I have a new one ready to go in ) problems but then this happened
So where do I start first
Solenoids I would think yea?
thoughts and opinions

Step 0: check fluid level and condition
Step 1: pull codes
Step 2: check line pressure in all gears

Don’t rev it if it isn’t engaging. When it comes to grenading your trans, that’s the cheat code.

If the transmission ever revs higher than normal in any gear, ever, let off the gas(that will make it upshift to the next gear). If it revs higher than a normal amount that you are used to, that is slipping of the internal clutches . If you keep doing that, it will die, because that is wearing the clutches very fast.

I'd suggest to not drive it until it fixed. Paying for a trans rebuild is cheap compared to burning one up, by pushing it when it's obviously malfunctioning. The solenoids and VB parts, accumulators, those are cheap and needed for any used trans of any mileage, and needed for a rebuild anyway. Do those unless you know it's failed, then go and get it rebuilt.

Most expensive rebuilds, are those following a vehicle driven after symptoms begin. Stop driving any car after a transmission symptom, it's not worth the cost ever. Have it towed and figure out if the trouble if serious or minor, but do not drive it.

If it never accelerates through the gears properly I’d suspect you’ve snapped your second gear band. This is often caused by driving a slipping transmission.
