I was wondering if some of you guys could share some thoughts on upgrading the stock 95Amp alternator to the 130Amp unit. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger with the 3.0L engine whose alternator is getting close to replaced. I have read a few posts on the upgrade, but I can't find any information from retailers or manufacturers regarding the optional use of the 130Amp unit. It is available for Explorer models and quite interestingly for the equivalent Mazda trucks. My truck is pretty much stock, so I don't need it at the moment. However, I was considering taking advantage of the opportunity and put some extra money in and get the 130Amp unit for future use since it is not much more. One thing I am concerned is about warrant
Have any of you guys done this upgrade? If I am not mistaken, I will have to replace the wires if I need to pull more than 95 Amps from it. The wires should be ok for a stock configuration, right?
