Police Engine Idle Switch and Forscan Configure

Hello group,
I've had a 2017 and a 2018 that I've had police secure idle activated at my location Ford dealership.
First I added the switch HB5Z 13D730-AA
Second I activated police secure idle thru Forscan.
I had to get the moulding trim piece that goes beneath the headlight switch FB5Z 7804438-DA
Then on a routing oil change I would ask them to active. I haven't had any problems doing this it's very easy.

I have everything set up except routing the one wire to the brake light.
When it is nice out I will hook that up and work with Forscan.
I don't have that fancy switch plate under the light control but I do have a red push button I installed.
That came right from the factory! The tech that works on my PIU is nice and I'll have him see if he can get it working!

With pcman's assistance, I was able to investigate as-built differences between Police Idle equipped and non-equipped vehicles. As I expected, I found some PCM bits I suspect are related to Police Idle.

I assembled nine 2019 FPIU VINs provided by pcman and found on a local gov auction site, plus my own non-equipped 2018 FPIU. Seven have Police Idle, two don't. I ran all of them through the Motorcraft As-Built page, and downloaded the provided files.
On the as-built pages, six of the equipped vehicles have PCM 7 0459 FFFF FF71. One of the equipped vehicles and the two non-equipped have PCM 7 0059 FFFF FF6D, as does my non-equipped 18 FPIU. There were no other PCM differences amongst the 2019s, mine also had PCM 8 differences. All of these vehicles have the same powertrain: 3.7L NA V6 and 6-speed auto trans.
I used Compulsive Code's As-Built Explorer software to compare the files. I did not find any differences unexplained by known features or options. Note that the Motorcraft as-built files are incomplete: many more addresses can be accessed via FORScan, which may be relevant.
All vehicles had the expected BCM config 726-63-01: xxxx-xXxx-xxxx: 0 for non-equipped, 1 for equipped.

More research into this PCM line is needed. It doesn't directly match up with FORScan's way of doing things, as there's no address listed. However, I think it's the key to getting Police Idle working.
synceeduppp,

I finally am getting around to posting how I was able to get the Police Engine Idle switch to work. At first once I installed the switch it did nothing. At this point attempting to activate it with IDS would do nothing. I went in using Forscan and made the change 726-63-01: xxxx-x#xx-xxxx to a 1 where the # is. At this point the switch at least responded when pressed, say "Police Engine Idle Not Available". I ended up going to my friend at the dealer and he hooked his IDS tool up to my PIU and went in on the IDS screens to Toolbox > Electrical > Police Features > Police Idle > Enable Police Idle. It has been a couple months but during the enabling procedure, at first we did not think it was going to work or did work, I seem to remember it gave some kind of error code and he tried it again, and then we just happened to press the button and it said on the instrument cluster "Police Engine Idle Enabled, please remove key to activate". Since then I have connected with Forscan again and to enable my AUX input on my radio and at this time I saved all the values in all the various modules. Let me know if you might be interested in all that data to try to determine what additional keys/values were changed by IDS to finalize the Police Engine Idle actually working.

Hello, did anyone ever get the Police Engine Idle working on their Police Interceptor Utility? I installed the bezel around the headlight switch and got the actual police engine idle (shield switch) switch. At first nothing would happen if the button was pressed. I found the Excel spreadsheet with the appropriate value to modify 726-63-01 modifying value XXXX X*XX XX-- changing the * from 0 to 1 to enable police idle factory config. After making this change the button does do something but it does not actually enable the police engine idle, instead it says "police engine idle not available" on the instrument cluster/ipc. My question is once I get the appropriate value modified, do I need to then get someone with IDS to go in and actually enable for it to actually work? Is there any other "hardware" i need to make this actually work? Also as a last resort I have found some other 2019 Ford PIU's with it already enabled, could I manually enter all their "As-Built Data" I acquired from the Ford website in order to get it to work? Is there any other values that need modifying?

Thanks in advance.

At this point you have to go to a Ford dealership. They did it for me on 2 of mine..

Good luck finding a Ford dealership out this way that is willing to do it without charging you almost $185.00 to look at it then tell you NO you aren't a cop and I can't do it.
