Still having issues with my PIU having inconsistent fuel delivery at low rpm. Took it to the local Ford for a diagnosis. They said I had a faulty Purge Valve. They want near $900 to replace and reset the error code.

I chose to take it home and do it myself. I still have the surging / bucking when I'm not on the gas but just letting idle move the car.

Anyway, because I could not easily find the purge valve location for my engine on our site, and seeing that there are a few others who are confused about the part and the location of the valve, I have picture and a part number.

The job takes 10 minutes not 2.5 shop hours as Ford wanted to charge me for. The only tool need is a screwdriver or a pick tool to release the hose retention.

My PIU is a 2017 3.5 Ecoboost. When searching on the commercial auto shop websites, the wrong part is always pictured. The part number for mine is FG1Z-9G271-A and it is listed as a hose not a purge valve. It is also listed for a Lincoln not for a Explorer. This is why there is so much confusion as to why the parts is hard to find when doing online searches.

Also, if you think you are looking for a valve, you'll look and look and never find where it's located on the engine. Once you see the actual part, the location on the engine is right there for you to see, right on top near the back of the engine. Not quite at the firewall.

Here are my pictures to help other people order the right part and find the location on your Ecoboost engines...
